Pathology is the study of disease. Anatomic pathology is a subspecialty involved with the study of diseased animal tissues in contrast to clinical pathology, which is the study of body fluids and individual cells, including the blood. Anatomic pathology is central to understanding the causes, clinical presentation, progression and treatment of disease.
