Fees for international students
The course fee per year is calculated on the basis of one full-time year of study (1 EFTSL). Actual fees vary depending on the subjects you are taking. The University reviews fees annually. The indicative total course fee is based on typical subject enrolments, and includes an indexation of 5% per annum. More information about tuition fees.
Please Note: This course is not available to international students.
If you are an international student, you may be eligible for a range of scholarships or grants.
Exact costs of the Diploma vary according to the subjects chosen. As a guide - the Diploma cost approximately $8,613 per year in 2016 for a full subject load.
Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF)
All University of Melbourne students are also required to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). The amount you are charged depends if you're a full-time or part-time student. More information about SSAF can be found here.
Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs)
Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are available to students. Students pay a contribution, with the amount determined each year by the Australian Government and the subjects in which you enrol.
Payment can be made at enrolment (upfront), or deferred through HECS/HELP for eligible students. See the Federal Government’s Study Assist website for more details.
Scholarships are available for the Diploma in General Studies, with special allocations to Indigenous students. Scholarships are designed to support students in meeting the costs associated with studying at university.
Each scholarship is worth up to $5000 (paid in half increments over two semesters). Scholarship funds go towards course costs, such as Student Services and Amenities fees, books, discipline-specific equipment and technological devices.
