Research Week Online: June development sessions

From 10–11 June, a series of online sessions gave Faculty academic staff and graduate researchers opportunities to further develop important skills for  your research career, with a focus on research partnerships.

Recordings are available below.

Session 1: Identifying demand for your research

This webinar is an opportunity to identify demand for your research beyond academia. You will identify who the key stakeholders and next-users are for your research, and therefore who you should be targeting with your research communication and engagement. Who needs your research? What are its significant drivers? The session was delivered by GrantEd.

Session 2: Creating collaborative research partnerships

Hear firsthand from your academic colleagues to understand their approach to industry engagement. How has their research endeavour pivoted in line with industry needs? What are their tips for success? Speakers included Professor Glenn Browning, Professor Rebecca Traub, Professor Richard Eckard and Dr Kate Howell.

Session 3: Building a collaborative research career

Join our academics as they share their career pathway, with a focus on their experience collaborating beyond academia. How have external partnerships influenced their research career? What opportunities does industry collaboration present? What are their tips to convert an initial collaborative research project to an ongoing partnership? Speakers included Professor Caroline Mansfield, Professor Deli Chen and Professor Robin Gasser.

Session 4: Pitching to industry partners – where to start

Understand first steps in engaging with industry partners, and what resources are available to you as an employee of the University. What should you prepare to increase the chance of a positive engagement? Who can help you in the University? The session was led by Enterprise Fellow (Smart Agriculture) Davi La Ferla and Business Development Director Greg Harper.
