Wool classer in the making
Growing up on his family’s cropping farm in Freshwater Creek, Xavier Carew always knew he’d pursue a career in the industry.
Second-year Bachelor of Agriculture student Xavier Carew was originally interested in agronomy, but after being part of the University of Melbourne’s competition-winning sheep judging team, he’s considering a future in wool production.
“We learned about different breeding values, the different processes involved in producing sheep, and had to select a ram and class its wool,” he told Stock and Land.
