Melbourne moves up world rankings in veterinary, agricultural and food sciences

The University of Melbourne has advanced in all three main fields of the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences in the 2020 Academic Rankings of World Universities’ (ARWU) per-subject measurement of university quality.

According to the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) results, the University of Melbourne moved up 13 spots from its 2019 placement in Agricultural Sciences to rank 30 in the world and third in Australia.

The University advanced to 26 in the world for Veterinary Sciences from 27 in 2019. This places it at second in Australia.

In Food Science and Technology it moved up a bracket from 2019 to the 76-100 range, placing the University second in Australia.

The GRAS and ARWU rankings are published by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. The GRAS ranking compared more than 1800 universities from 90 countries and regions on measures of research quality, extent of international collaboration, research with top quality, and academic recognition.
