Red Cadeaux Prize

Red Cadeaux, a British-bred Thoroughbred racehorse, won $8 million of prize money in his racing career. He won the Curragh Cup in 2011 and the Yorkshire Cup and Hong Kong Vase in 2012, and was runner-up in the Melbourne Cup in 2011, 2013 and 2014. Surgical complications following a fore fetlock injury sustained in the 2015 Melbourne Cup necessitated his euthanasia. In honour of a magnificent horse, the Red Cadeaux Prize was awarded for the first time in 2016 and is given to the student with recognised determination and flair in Equine Medicine.
